The Realm of Eos: Map

Description

To get some of my ideas out of my head and down on paper, I've started on a map of the Realm of Eos. Thus far there are six major regions, though doubtless more will come along in time. Since the current campaign is an exploratory game to discover the secrets of the Lost Continent, that realm is warped and unknown- can't be giving away spoilers already, can I? Though, for those of you reading this that are currently in the Miziro campaign, THERE ARE POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

From left to right, here are the continents shown:
- Dragonvale, farthest left: Ages ago, a war raged between the mortal races and the dragons, and while the beasts of the sky could undoubtedly crush the land-dwellers, they decided instead to leave the quarreling masses to their own devices and settle elsewhere. Named by the crew that discovered the land in recent years, Dragonvale has been home to all manner of dragons; the metallic dragons typically staying to the south, while the chromatic dragons make their home in the north. The port town of Merconia is the only notable city that the mortal people have been allowed to be in contact with thus far.
- Kaladon, center left: The oldest continent by their own historical records, Kaladon was the cradle of early civilization and a symbol of peace for all the races of the world before the war against the dragons. Ever since, it has been a realm of prejudice and strife. The colossal city-nation of Kaladonia boasts the largest population in the world, as well as a clerical oligarchy of followers of the Interlocking Path, a religious way guided by four gods of goodness and law. It is no secret to outsiders, however, that the ardent Kaladonites are heavily suspicious of those beyond the towering walls of their city. Those who did not agree with the strictness and shallow thinking of the city-dwellers turned to the Outer Wilds (not all of them by choice). The Wilds are home to countless roaming nomadic tribes, many of which practice magic in some capacity or another. In the center of the continent lies the Worldspine, a massive trail of spire-like mountains that reach highest in the world, the tallest peaks disappearing above the clouds. The Deep Wilds stretches below the Worldspine, a brutal and savage land inhabited by hostile creatures and the occasional band of orcs.
- The Glacierlands, top: After the defeat of the Chaos Primordial, much of the Glacierlands returned from its solid frozen state to a lush highland-scape of frigid but habitable hills, beautiful tundras and icy archipelagos. Dwarves hailing from the frozen north have skill not in cutting stone, but shaping ice as they see fit. The palace at the capitol, Icebreaker Citadel, remains frozen solid all months of the year, though much of the rest of the city is a combination of sculpted ice and stone structures.
- The Lost Continent, center right: Little is known about this mysterious continent that sprung into existence seemingly overnight. Led by Isabella Lavender of Alvarion, the nations agreed that none shall lay claim to this new and strange land, lest conflict escalate into global war. Scores of adventurers now travel to this unknown land in hopes to unravel its mystery.
- The Drowning Isles, bottom right: These god-forsaken spits of land were likely once normal tropical islands, but now are mostly bogs and moors, as though the sea hopes to cover them up and act as though they never existed. Home to covens of hags and all manner of deplorable filth-writhing abominations, few would ever travel to these lands with any aim other than to wipe them off the map. Its single city, Slaughterport, is a towering metropolis of driftwood and broken ships. Rogues, pirates, cheaters, bandits, any kind of scum of the earth is all that winds up in Slaughterport- and more often than not, with a dagger in their back.
- Brutera, right: Brutera is a continent most diverse, with distinct northern and southern portions. In the north sits the proud and luminous Alvarion, a kingdom of hope and power led by ex-adventurers. The people of Alvarion are kind and cheerful, many still remembering the terrible reign of the Shadow King many years ago and reveling in their current state of prosperity. Otherworldly creatures can find refuge in Alvarion, as the people are not quick to judge based on looks. Fey fill their forests and magical crystals power everyday tasks. The mighty Castle Lavender floats in the sky above a bustling city, a massive crystal keeping it in the air as well as lighting the town by night. In the south, the old empire of Miziro stands tall with its long tales of peace and intricate customs. A puppet king under a dark master was recently purged from the throne, and now a loyal and gentle Empress leads the people. Amidst the swirling islands off the southeastern coast sits the magnificent Imperial City, the second oldest city in the world if Kaladon is to be considered. Between the two great nations sits a massive desolate wasteland known as the Endless Desert, though in recent years a fledgling nation has arisen from the dust and reestablished a land route through the sands. The nation has taken the name of its ancient predecessor, Vataskum, and its capitol of Epicentia is a place of beauty among devastation, scorched black sands leading into a glass plateau surrounding the main spire-structure of the city.

Cheers!

Man I love maps, Location building has to be one of my favorite kinds of development!

The Drowning Islands sounds like a really good pirate metal album though. I'm all about that pirate metal.
